THEDDLETHORPE BEACH AND DUNES, LINCOLNSHIRE

A huge expanse of sand and dunes to the north of the town of Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire
There are two main ways to access this beach, either from the north end at Churchill Lane or the south end at Sea Lane and Sea Bank

OLD COMET TANK WRECK ON THEDDLETHORPE BEACH DURING AUGUST 2017

I remember this tank being put in place on this beach in the early seventies when this beach formed a military bombing range that had lasted since WWII
I first visited this beach afterwards in 1977 on my then Kawasaki KH250 motorcycle. I didn't visit again until about 1985
Since that time I have forever tried to get what is to me an acceptable image of this tank. I am now happy with this image

From WWII through to around 1977, Theddlethorpe was a military bombing range in constant use
During the late seventies however, a huge gas terminal was built close to the sand dunes at the village of Theddlethorpe
No one appeared to have consulted the MOD though
The bombing range here was closed and moved to its current location north of the village of North Somercoates
The current bombing range is known as Donna Nook and is still in use (2017)

Theddlethorpe Beach has been used by naturists for many, many years
The local authorities now seem to object
